Census returns
have been taken every 10 years in the UK since 1801.
The 1801 - 1831 census returns are nearly all destroyed. The 1841 census does not give the "Relationship to Head" field, and does not give the place where the person was born. Also ages for adults were rounded to nearest 5(i think) years. From 1851 the census returns give the "Relationship to Head of household" and also record the place and county where born. |
